About Dashlane

Dashlane is a password manager that has grown into what it now calls a credential security platform. It stores passwords, passkeys, secure notes, IDs and payment details in an encrypted vault, generates strong passwords and fills them in the browser and in mobile apps. On top of that, it watches for weak, reused and breached credentials and warns users about phishing pages before they type a password into them.

The company was founded in Paris in 2009 and released its first password manager in 2012. Since 2022 it has been web-first: the old Windows and Mac desktop apps gave way to a web app and browser extensions, while iOS and Android apps remain. Dashlane says more than 25,000 businesses use it.

Key features

  • Vault and autofill. Unlimited passwords and devices, with AI-powered autofill, a password generator and passwordless login for new accounts.
  • Passkeys and security keys. Passkeys are stored alongside passwords, and the account can be protected with FIDO2 keys such as YubiKey.
  • Dark Web Monitoring and phishing alerts. Premium users are warned about leaked credentials and real-time phishing risks; businesses get a password health dashboard.
  • Secure sharing. Share individual items or collections with family members or colleagues, with admin policies controlling what can be shared at work.
  • Credential Protection. A separate business product that detects credential risk across domains outside single sign-on and feeds alerts and remediation insights to admins.
  • Identity and security integrations. SSO and SCIM with Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Ping ID, JumpCloud and Duo; SIEM export to Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, Datadog and Panther; KnowBe4 for security training.
  • CLI and API. The open-source Dashlane CLI reads vault secrets in terminals, servers and CI/CD jobs, and a public API supports custom integrations.

Who it is for

Dashlane is aimed mainly at organisations that want password management and credential risk detection from one vendor, with deployment through Jamf, Group Policy or Intune and provisioning from an existing identity provider. Households can use the Premium plan, which includes a VPN for public Wi-Fi, or Friends & Family for up to ten members.

Pricing at a glance

  • Premium: one user, billed annually, with a 14-day free trial.
  • Friends & Family: ten accounts under one subscription, billed annually.
  • Password Management (business): per user per month, billed annually, with a 14-day free trial.
  • Credential Protection and Enterprise: through sales, with volume pricing for Enterprise.

Dashlane's pricing pages load prices in the browser, and figures were not visible when checked in October 2026, so none are quoted here; check the vendor's pricing page for current amounts.

Things to consider

  • There is no longer a free plan; it ended on 16 September 2025.
  • There is no Windows or Linux desktop app; on a computer Dashlane works through the web app and browser extensions.
  • Credential Protection features such as risk detection are sold separately from the password manager.

Getting started

  1. Start a 14-day trial from the Dashlane pricing page.
  2. Install the browser extension and mobile app, then import passwords from a CSV file, Chrome or LastPass.
  3. Business admins can connect SSO and SCIM using the Dashlane help center.
