About Snyk

Snyk is a developer security platform that finds and helps fix vulnerabilities in the code teams write, the open-source packages they depend on, the container images they ship and the infrastructure-as-code files that define their cloud setup. It plugs into the tools developers already use, including IDEs, the command line, source control and CI/CD pipelines.

The problem it addresses is that security reviews arriving late in the release cycle are slow and expensive. Snyk moves scanning earlier, flags issues in pull requests and editors, and prioritises findings with risk scores and reachability analysis so teams focus on vulnerabilities that can actually be exploited. Snyk now positions itself as an AI security platform that also validates AI-generated code.

Key features

  • Snyk Open Source. Software composition analysis that finds and fixes vulnerabilities in open-source dependencies.
  • Snyk Code. Static application security testing (SAST) for your own code, with real-time scanning in the IDE.
  • Snyk Container. Scans container images for vulnerabilities.
  • Snyk IaC. Finds and fixes cloud configuration issues in infrastructure-as-code files.
  • Developer integrations. IDE plugins, a CLI, source-control integrations and CI/CD integrations, plus an API for automation.
  • Prioritisation and AppRisk. Risk scores and reachability analysis, and Snyk AppRisk for managing security across an application portfolio.
  • AI-focused capabilities. AI-assisted fixes, Snyk Studio and Evo by Snyk for securing AI-driven development, and AI pentesting; Evo capabilities require an Enterprise subscription.

Who it is for

Snyk suits development teams that want security checks inside their normal workflow rather than as a separate gate: individual developers and open-source maintainers on the free plan, small product teams on Team, and AppSec teams at larger organisations who need portfolio-wide visibility, policy and reporting on Enterprise.

Pricing at a glance

  • Free: $0 per month; 5 projects and 100 Snyk Code tests per month, with open-source, IaC and container scanning and IDE and CLI integrations.
  • Team: starting at $25 per month; 100 projects and 1,000 Snyk Code tests per month, Jira integration and next-business-day support.
  • Enterprise: custom quote using pre-purchased credits (1 credit = $1) valid for the contract term and usable across Snyk capabilities.

Prices as checked on 7 October 2026; confirm on the vendor's pricing page.

Things to consider

  • The free plan's limit of 100 Snyk Code tests per month can run out quickly on an active repository.
  • Evo, AI pentesting and coding-agent security are Enterprise-only.
  • Enterprise uses a credit model, so you need to estimate usage across products before you buy.
  • Like any scanner, results need triage; plan time to tune policies and ignore rules so developers are not flooded with low-priority alerts.

Getting started

  1. Sign up for the free plan on the Snyk plans page.
  2. Connect your source-control provider and import one repository as a first project.
  3. Install the IDE plugin or CLI to scan code locally before you commit.
  4. Add a Snyk check to your CI/CD pipeline, using the Snyk documentation for your platform.
  5. Review the highest-risk issues first and apply suggested fixes.
