About 10up
10up is a digital agency that designs and engineers websites and publishing tools, mainly on WordPress. It describes its mission as making the web better by finely crafting websites and tools for content creators, and its public work includes the rebuild of WhiteHouse.gov and a redesign of the California DMV website.
In 2023 10up joined Fueled, and it now operates as Fueled's enterprise WordPress practice while keeping the 10up name. The team of more than 300 people works remote-first across many time zones, with people in the United States and about a dozen European countries. Organisations usually come to 10up when a content-heavy site has outgrown a simple setup and needs strategy, design and engineering under one roof.
Key features
- Enterprise WordPress engineering. Custom themes, block-editor work, integrations and platform builds for large publishing and institutional sites.
- Strategy, design and engineering. 10up groups its work into these three areas, with specialists in UX, cloud infrastructure, SEO, data and analytics, AI and publisher revenue.
- Open-source plugins. It maintains projects such as ElasticPress (search and indexing), Distributor (content syndication between sites) and ClassifAI (AI tooling for WordPress).
- Published engineering standards. Its Engineering Best Practices and Open Source Best Practices guides are public, so you can read how the team writes and reviews code before you hire it.
- Contribution to WordPress. 10up says its people have made hundreds of commits to open projects such as WordPress.
- Code review for managed platforms. The agency states that it provides expert code review for enterprise platforms such as WordPress VIP.
Who it is for
10up suits media companies, universities, public-sector bodies and large brands that run WordPress at scale, or plan to move to it, and want one partner for discovery, design, build and ongoing engineering. In-house product teams can also use it to add WordPress depth. A small business with a basic brochure site will usually find a smaller studio or a managed theme a better fit.
Pricing at a glance
10up does not publish rates on its website. Work is scoped and quoted per project after an initial conversation through its contact page, and engagements typically run as defined projects, followed where needed by ongoing engineering and support. Ask for the scope, team make-up and any retainer terms in writing. Prices as checked on 7 October 2026; confirm on the vendor's pricing page.
Things to consider
- WordPress first. The agency's depth is in WordPress and CMS work; if your stack is unrelated, compare specialists in that stack.
- Enterprise orientation. Its showcased clients are large organisations, so budgets and processes are set at that level.
- Part of Fueled. Since 2023 10up has been a practice within Fueled; confirm which entity you contract with and who owns delivery.
- Remote-first team. Delivery is distributed across time zones; agree meeting hours and communication channels at the start.
Getting started
