Application Modernization

A staged plan to bring an older business application up to date while it keeps running.

About this solution

When a business depends on an ageing application, replacing it all at once is risky and expensive. A staged modernization upgrades, refactors or replaces one part at a time, so the business keeps working and each step can be checked.

How we work

We assess the code, data and hosting, agree the order of the stages based on risk and value, and deliver each stage with tests and a rollback plan. See also our Legacy Application Modernization service for the technical detail.

How the work is scoped

We assemble a staged roadmap covering the application, data and operating process. Each stage identifies the existing behavior to retain, the component to change and the evidence needed before switching over. The roadmap can combine dependency upgrades, interface improvements and clearer deployment practices without assuming all work belongs in one release.

Scope and exclusions

The roadmap is not an unlimited commitment to rebuild the application. New business features, data cleanup and third-party licensing are agreed separately. A complete replacement is considered only when assessment evidence and operational constraints support it.

A practical example

An older internal application could first receive supported dependencies and a reproducible deployment, then replace one heavily used screen. Reconciled records and rollback checks would gate each stage. This is an example sequence, not a historic client outcome or a guaranteed migration schedule.

Pricing and handover

Work is quoted after the requirements and acceptance checks are agreed. The handover covers the delivered changes, verification notes and operating instructions for the agreed scope. Further releases and ongoing maintenance are optional and scoped separately.
