About Replit
Replit is a cloud software platform made by Replit, Inc., founded in 2016 by Amjad Masad, Faris Masad and Haya Odeh. It began as an online coding environment and is now built around Replit Agent, an AI agent that turns a plain-language description into a working app, website, dashboard or internal tool, then hosts it.
The appeal is that the whole path from idea to live app happens in one place. You do not need to install anything, set up a server or wire together a database: the agent writes the code, the workspace runs it, and publishing puts it on the web. Founders use it to build prototypes and first products, and teams use it for internal tools.
Key features
- Replit Agent. Describe what you want and the agent plans, builds and tests the app, searching the web when it needs current information. You refine it by giving feedback in the chat.
- Agent modes. Free Mode works within an included allowance, while Power and Max modes use credits for harder tasks; Plan Mode lets you brainstorm without changing code.
- Built-in services. Databases, user authentication, app storage and secrets management come with the workspace.
- Connectors and MCP. Connect Stripe, OpenAI, Slack, GitHub, Google Drive, Notion, Salesforce, HubSpot, Linear and other services, or add tools through MCP.
- Design Canvas and Visual Editor. Explore layouts visually, import Figma designs and edit content directly.
- Mobile apps. Build native iOS and Android apps with the agent, test them on your phone and upload them to App Store Connect.
- Collaboration. Invite builders to a workspace, run background tasks and track work on a shared board.
Who it is for
Non-technical founders and product managers can build working prototypes without writing code. Developers use Replit for fast experiments and small production apps without managing infrastructure. Students learn by building, and small teams build internal tools together. Larger organisations that need SSO, governance and single-tenant environments use Enterprise.
Pricing at a glance
Starter is free, with daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap, a lighter build mode and one published app that goes offline after 30 days. Core is $20 per month, or $18 per month billed annually, and includes $20 of monthly credits, full Agent builds, connectors, Plan Mode and up to five builders. Pro starts at $100 per month, or $90 billed annually, with $100 of credits, up to 10 parallel agent tasks, up to 15 builders, credit rollover and priority support. Enterprise is priced on request. Agent work, publishing and databases beyond the included credits are billed by usage. Prices as checked on 10 October 2026; confirm on the vendor's pricing page.
Things to consider
- Costs depend on usage: heavy agent work and busy published apps consume credits, so set budgets and usage limits in the billing settings.
- Replit itself warns that the agent is probabilistic and can make mistakes; review and test generated code, especially anything that handles data or payments.
- Third-party connectors and removing the "Made with Replit" badge require a paid plan.
- Apps are built to run on Replit's own hosting, so plan ahead if you may later move them elsewhere.
