About Zoom Workplace
Zoom Workplace is the collaboration platform from Zoom, best known for Zoom Meetings video calls. Zoom describes it as collaboration tools in an AI-first work platform: meetings, team chat, phone, email and calendar, whiteboards and video tools in one suite, so teams can move between a call, a chat and a shared document without switching vendors.
It is used by individuals for occasional calls and by businesses as their main communication system. The AI Companion assistant adds features such as meeting summaries and answers to questions about your work.
Key features
- Meetings. Video meetings for one-to-one calls, team meetings and large sessions; participant limits range from 100 on the free plan to 1,000 on Enterprise.
- Team Chat. Persistent chat channels and direct messages that sit alongside meetings.
- Phone. A cloud phone system; Enterprise includes a full-featured PBX phone system.
- Whiteboard. Online whiteboards for brainstorming during or between meetings; Business includes unlimited whiteboards.
- Mail, Calendar and Scheduler. Email and calendar tools and an appointment scheduler within the same workplace.
- Clips. Short screen and video recordings for asynchronous updates, unlimited on paid plans.
- AI Companion. Meeting summaries and AI queries; the free plan includes summaries for 3 hosted meetings and 20 AI queries per month, paid plans include more.
Who it is for
Zoom Workplace suits freelancers, educators, small businesses and large organisations that rely on video meetings, as well as companies that want meetings, chat and phone from one vendor. Individuals with short calls can use the free Basic plan, small teams that need longer meetings and cloud recording often choose Pro, and larger companies needing bigger meetings and stronger security look at Business or Enterprise.
Pricing at a glance

Things to consider
- The free Basic plan caps each meeting at 40 minutes, which is the most common reason individuals upgrade.
- AI Companion features on the free plan are limited to summaries for 3 hosted meetings and 20 AI queries per month.
- Zoom Workplace contains many products; teams already using another chat or email suite may only need the meetings part.
- Cloud storage on Pro is 10 GB per user, so frequent recorders should plan for storage needs.
Getting started
