About Sucuri
Sucuri is a website security service for site owners who would rather not become security experts. It combines two things that are usually sold separately: a cloud web application firewall that stops attacks before they reach the server, and a team that cleans up a site when it has already been hacked. Sucuri says it has worked on website security since 2009, and it has been part of GoDaddy since 2017 while keeping its own brand.
The firewall works as a reverse proxy. You point the site's DNS at Sucuri, and every request is inspected before it is passed on to your hosting. Because it does not depend on the server or the CMS, the same service covers WordPress, Magento, Drupal, Joomla, Shopify, Wix and custom-built sites.
Key features
- Web application firewall. Blocks malicious requests and uses virtual patching and hardening to protect outdated software until it can be updated.
- DDoS mitigation. Stops layer 3, 4 and 7 DDoS attacks on a global Anycast network; there is an "I am currently under attack" option when adding a site.
- CDN and caching. Content is served from Sucuri's proxy servers with four caching modes, which Sucuri says reduces server load.
- Malware scanning and monitoring. Scheduled scans for malware, blocklisting, DNS changes, uptime, malicious redirects and SEO spam, from every 12 hours to every 30 minutes depending on plan.
- Unlimited hack cleanups. Every Platform plan includes unlimited manual malware removal by Sucuri's analysts, with response targets from 30 hours down to 4 hours.
- Blocklist removal and SSL. Sucuri handles getting a cleaned site removed from blocklists, and SSL is enabled on the firewall automatically.
- Free tools. The SiteCheck remote scanner and a free WordPress plugin for audit logs, file integrity monitoring and hardening.
Who it is for
Sucuri fits small businesses and bloggers running a CMS site who want protection and a guaranteed cleanup without managing servers, and agencies that look after many client sites and need predictable incident response. Teams already behind another CDN or WAF may only need its cleanup and monitoring service.

Things to consider
- Each plan covers one site, so costs add up across a portfolio unless you negotiate a multi-site plan.
- Activating the firewall means changing DNS records, which needs care on sites with email or other services on the same domain.
- Support is by ticket; SiteCheck only sees what is visible from the browser and cannot detect server-side backdoors.
Getting started
- Run a free scan with Sucuri SiteCheck to see what is visible from outside.
- Choose a Platform or Firewall plan on the Sucuri pricing page.
- Add the site to the firewall, change the DNS records and pick a caching mode, following the Sucuri documentation.
